Costa Rica Animal Rescue

ABOUT

The rescue centre is located near Cebadilla and surrounded by rivers, meadows and large fruit trees. It currently consists of an animal hospital, bird aviary, two sloth gardens and monkey enclosures. The centre often finds itself as the first point of contact for locals and tourists that have found sick, injured or abandoned animals on both the streets and in the wilderness. With the majority of animals in their care being juveniles or infants, the centre offers them the best chance of survival.

On arrival at the centre, all animals are examined by the on-site veterinarian, who alongside the volunteers, helps keep the centre going. Once each animal receives a vet check, a treatment plan is put together to ensure the animal receives the care it needs. Whilst the care, treatments and restraining are the responsibility of permanent staff, volunteers are often given the opportunity to help.
